Alhaji Yusuf Ado Kibiya has been sworn in as the new chairman of the Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Naija News understands that the party has been without leadership for over two years due to internal conflicts.
However, Mr Kibiya, who served as Agriculture Commissioner under Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso from 1999 to 2003, is currently elected PDP chairman in the state.
The election results were announced yesterday by the Chairman of the Elections Committee at the party’s national headquarters, Mr. Khalil Abubakar Mazaghani.
After the election, Mr. Kibiya achieved a landslide victory with 3,964 votes, while his opponent, Mr. Nura Nuhu, received only 244 votes.

The new leadership is expected to guide PDP activities in Kano as the PDP aims to strengthen its presence and strategy in preparation for upcoming political events.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Kibiya expressed his gratitude to party members for their trust and dedication in leading the revitalization of the PDP in Kano State with transparency and inclusiveness.
The state Public Relations Secretary, Prof. Umar Faruq Jibril, said the PDP was poised to become stronger with the caliber of the newly elected executive.
“The party here needs to be repositioned and reorganized, but this must follow the rules and guidelines of the party constitution.
“The party in the state does not belong to any of the camps speculated.
“There is no time to prepare for a crisis now because we will be on the receiving end of a crisis. We are competing to wrest power from the All Progressives Congress (APC), but if we are weak within the party, we will energize it. “You can’t,” he added.
Senator Hayatou Gwarzo, a prominent member of the PDP, has claimed that the party is ready to take control of the central government in 2027.
He stressed that the majority of the people are dissatisfied with the current economic challenges under the APC government.
As a result, the Prime Minister said that through prayers, unwavering support and collective efforts, the PDP will succeed in forming a government in 2027 as it is the only political party that can meet the aspirations and expectations of the people who yearn for meaningful change. He expressed confidence that he would do so.
