LP Giobbi is no ordinary DJ. A classically trained jazz pianist, she now tours most of the year, performing at festivals, clubs, and even boardrooms. She is the global director of music for W Hotels, where she curates the hospitality giant’s artistic talent and programming and has remixed music from everyone from Taylor Swift to Calvin Harris.
Her work is bright and high energy, inviting listeners to experience a fun blend of house and soul. Giobbi’s latest project, her second album Dotr (pronounced “daughter”), is out now. The title itself is a bit of an inside joke. “When I was little, I would write little notes to my parents and leave them under my pillow and around the house,” she explains. “I was and still am the world’s worst speller and I sign them ‘I love you, Dottle.’ Even now they send me birthday cards or something. When I write, I start with ‘Dear Dottle.’
The album is a tribute to her experience as a daughter and a memorial to the women who shaped her and have sadly passed away: her mother-in-law, Patricia Lin; It is something. her longtime piano teacher, Carolyn Horne; and a close family friend, Sus Milleman.
Giobbi’s passion lies in creating music, but he also works as an advocate for marginalized communities in the music world. Her nonprofit, Fam House, helps women and gender diverse people succeed in all aspects of the music industry, from producing to writing. She wants fairness and equality in a male-dominated field and wants new voices to be able to express themselves.

I attended the School of Jazz Piano Performance at the University of California, Berkeley. After I graduated, Peter Franco, Daft Punk’s engineer and producer, asked me to join this all-female electronic band he was forming in Los Angeles. Through that I learned sound design and synthesis and started producing. Shortly thereafter, I met Sophie Tucker when we opened at a festival. They liked my set and asked me to come on tour. Now, working with talented artists like Taylor Swift, Brittany Howard, Calvin Harris, and Diplo allows me to further develop my skills, deliver the best tracks possible, and make my own. I was able to really hone my technique.
I believe in alliances and finding gatekeepers who have the influence and power to open doors for those who are not represented. That’s why it’s so important to create spaces and communities like Famhouse where we can lift each other up, encourage each other, and collaborate and be the inspiration to keep moving forward.
FEMME HOUSE is a nonprofit organization that promotes more equal opportunities for women and gender diverse people in the technical and behind-the-scenes fields of music. We develop future producers, mixers, engineers, DJs, artists, and industry executives by providing education and scholarships, fostering community, promoting visual expression, and providing professional development opportunities.
The girl I used to be and the woman I am becoming is because of the people I honor through this album. It started with the desire to send flowers to my mom and dad while we are still together on this earth, and to write songs about and with the people who inspire me the most. It has become.
The intro, interlude, and outro that tie the album together thematically were written for three of the most important and influential women in my life, all of whom passed away one month apart last year. I wanted to make music in honor of them and for them, to process the sadness and turn it into a feeling of joy they gave me and gratitude for their presence. is completed.
I swear by using a face mask to hydrate my skin after a flight. They are even part of my rider requirements. And no matter what time it is to finally get off stage or how little time I have before leaving the hotel for the next show, I always wash my face before going to bed.
Eating right is also important to me. Sofi Tukker’s Sophie Hawley-Weld truly inspires you to put the right food and nutrients into your body so you can show up with the energy to perform to your fullest potential. She treats herself more like an athlete than a DJ or rock star, and I really respect that.
