Olatunbosun Oyintiloe, a former lawmaker representing Obokun constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, has said that the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, will win the 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.
Oyintiroye said this while reacting to insinuations that Oyetola, who served as the state governor from November 27, 2018 to November 26, 2022, was not interested in the 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket. He said:
Through a statement obtained in Osogbo on Wednesday, the former lawmaker maintained that there was no indication that the former governor would reject the opportunity to run as an APC candidate.
He also said Oyetola was ready to end the Peoples Democratic Party-led government in the state by 2026.
He said: “This strategic framework will guide us in defining our vision and objectives as a party. We are well prepared to wrest power from the PDP in 2026 and the people of the state believe Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola plans to contest and win the Osun State governorship election in 2026.
“He has the right of first refusal. He has already done the background work. He has started consultations looking at the strengths and challenges before us as a party. He is ready and intends to return to Oke Fia Government House in 2026.”
Mr. Oyintiroye maintained that Mr. Oyetola remains the best candidate of the APC in the upcoming governorship election in Osun, adding that during his four-year term, the state would be able to improve health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, rural development, among others. He said he has witnessed steady changes in the field.
He further said that despite receiving only a small allocation from the federal account, Oetola leveraged its extensive experience gained from both the private and public sectors over the years to ensure that all sectors felt positive.
