Former Ogun State gubernatorial and deputy governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ladi Adebutu and Adekunle Akinlade, respectively, have heightened the crisis for the party in the state.
Former deputy governorship candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, in a statement on Saturday advised former governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, to wait until 2035 to become governor.
This comes after the two PDP leaders held another congress in Abeokuta in the state on Saturday.
Mr. Akinlade maintained that Governor Dapo Abiodun and Mr. Adebutu are from the same place. He said it was wrong for Adebutu to contest in 2027 and said another part of the state should be given a chance.
Akinlade said in a statement: As a stakeholder in Ogun PDP, I, Your Excellency, believe that Mr. Ladi Adebutu is spending billions of dollars to influence his aspirations at all levels. Hundreds of party leaders in the state, including Sikirulla Ogundele, Otunba Jimi Lawal and Dimeji Fabiyi, who emerged as state chairman at the state house today, are determined to put Ogun state first.
“There is no way that the incumbent governor from Iperu, Ikenne LG of Ogun State, His Highness Dapo Abiodun, will fight for an eight-year term in 2027, God willing, and that a self-proclaimed Iperu man wants to become governor in 2027. You would think so.”
The former Ogun PDP deputy governorship candidate pointed out that the parallel assembly was deliberately held to show no to Mr. Adebutu’s ambitions.
He added that the battle between Adebutu will continue until he saves the party from being taken over.
“So what happened today is a series of actions that all of us consciously and intentionally took to say no to the Pope.” Ladi Adebutu’s 2027 ambitions. You can run in 2031 or 2035! ! Definitely not in 2027.
“Just a few weeks ago, we held parallel ward and LG assemblies and sat in court at FHC Abeokuta on the same. On September 28, 2024, the state assembly ended with great success.
“We will fight to protect this party. The PDP belongs to all of us. With the emergence of our party cadres at all levels across the state, we will soon begin the operational work of the party. is confident that at the appropriate time, the party’s NWC will step in and ask him to order.
“We sincerely hope that the PDP recognizes the sacrifices and dedication of thousands of our people for this party over the years. We will continue to stand firm and ensure that this fight reaches a fruitful conclusion.” I will do my best.
“We say no to His Excellency, the strangulation of Ogun PDP by Ladi Adebutu and its 2027 ambition,” Akinlade added.
