The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Peter Babalola, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
While declaring his allegiance to the APC, Babalola vowed to use his political influence to strengthen the party especially in Iluwole Local Government Area and Osun West Senatorial District overall.
In a speech delivered by Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Blue Economy, at the official installation ceremony of the APC, Babalola vowed to ensure a landslide victory for the APC in the upcoming local government elections in the state.
“I have directed my supporters in all 30 local governments and 332 wards in Osun State to register as APC members,” he said.
The former Osun chief of staff also warned the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke to refrain from any attempt to manipulate the electoral process in favor of the PDP during the upcoming local government elections.
Babalola said the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, would soon visit Osogbo to formally welcome the new members into the party.
On behalf of the Minister, APC National Secretary Alao Kamorudeen in his address conveyed confidence that the party is poised to secure significant victories in the impending local government elections and future national elections.
“Party members need to rally behind the leadership and support candidates to ensure overall electoral success.
“Rest assured that the APC-led administration remains committed to providing strong leadership, especially in rural areas. Our members should begin mobilizing immediately,” he said.
He urged party members to return to their political constituencies to register and assert their influence.
Senate leaders and party members from the 30 local governments in Osun West Senatorial District have gathered to formally welcome Peter Babalola to the state APC.
Peter Babalola, who was previously the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Osun State College of Education, Illa-Orangun, was suspended by the ward leadership of the PDP in Irewolu Local Government in August, DAILY POST reported.
Naija News understands that Mr Babalola had tendered his resignation from the PDP prior to his suspension.
