The Osun State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has announced that it will defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2026 gubernatorial election.
According to Naija News, the Osun NURTW leadership took this decision at a meeting in Ilesa on Wednesday.
Addressing journalists on behalf of the Osun NURTW Central Working Committee (CWC), Acting Chairman Kazeem Oyewale condemned the ill-treatment meted out to members of the union since the inauguration of the Adeleke administration.
Mr. Oyewale noted that Governor Adeleke, upon taking office, removed members from management and replaced them with a park management system, stressing that he would leave no stone unturned to ensure the return of the APC government in 2026. .
While acknowledging the union’s non-partisan nature, the NURTW Acting Chair noted that it has become essential for the union’s members to work with political parties that recognize their membership and defend their welfare and general welfare. did.
He said, “There are many people who are suffering under this Adeleke administration and our members are among them because Adeleke sacked them when he assumed office in 2022.”
“There is no disagreement. Anyone who sees people being fired must work hard to ensure that they are fired. I’m ready to do it.
“It is on record that our union was abolished shortly after the incumbent governor took over the leadership of the state, and since then hundreds of union members have lost their jobs and been placed on administrative leave without justifiable reason. and became redundant.
“While we remain determined to return to the position we had in the past before the current government came into power, we also extend our absolute support to the parties that recognized us during our time in power. We are ready. We assure you that our position will be restored soon.”
