Dan Orbi, re-elected vice-president of the North and South Band of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has said the party’s ongoing crisis is self-harm.
PDP Stalwart said this at the North-South Band Conference of the PDP in Calabar on Saturday.
He noted that several members disregarded the party’s constitution in favor of personal interests.
Orbih argued that the party should not determine the friends or enemies of its members.
Vice-Chair Zone urged party members to make the necessary sacrifices to revive and strengthen the party.
He stressed that such individuals must also fear God, calling for elections for officers who support the constitution of the party within the zone.
“If we revive it, we must follow the party guidelines. These guidelines are subject to the constitution. The authority to elect new party officers is to be considered by any other party other than the constitution. There is no impact either.
“This is where we have to start restructuring the party. The party cannot tell who an individual should relate to or decide who his friends or enemies,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Region (FCT) who is NYESOM WIKE declared there is no fresh North-South Democratic Party (PDP) meeting beyond what was held in Calabar, Cross River province on Saturday. .
Speaking to Congress, Wike challenged the PDP’s National Labor Commission (NWC), claiming that the election was just and final.
He urged representatives to highlight the importance of strong leadership in moving the PDP forward and to elect officials who defend and protect the party.
Wike said: “The North and South Zone is the most powerful zone of Nigeria’s PDP. It’s always and will always be. There is no part of the constitution that says that parliament should be postponed for weddings or trips.
“There was never a parliament where all representatives existed. The Constitution said that the National Labor Commission should not do zones rather than parliament. After today’s election, this was the final North and South Zone. We would like to ensure that this is a zone meeting.
“This is our job, our terrain, we’re nothing new to this. No one can scare me, and I don’t have to be the governor. We Let us put ourselves together in the truth, so that our party remains united and we can unite only when we are true. And let our eyes shine, and we Let’s unite and elect a leader to protect the party.”
