Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has advised the suspended National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umaru Damagumu, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that a faction of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) suspended Mr. Damagum and the party’s national secretary, Mr. Samuel Anyanwu.
Another faction, NWC, also suspended the party’s National Public Relations Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, and National Legal Adviser, Kamaludeen Ajibade.
Reacting to the development through his X handle on Friday, Melaye said the suspended chairman has done enough damage to the PDP.
He writes: “APC Destroyer, Enough is enough, Damagum. Please feel free to join the APC.
"Goodbye, Damagum, the harm you’ve done is enough.”
However, Naija News reports that the Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP from removing Damagumu as acting national chairman of the party.
The court ordered that no one other than Damagum be recognized as PDP national chairman until the party’s national convention scheduled for December next year.
Those who accepted spaghetti and rappers and voted for Tinubu are suffering the most – Damagum
Meanwhile, Damagum attacked Nigerians who supported President Bola Tinubu during the election.
He said they are now enduring the consequences of exchanging their votes for items such as spaghetti and wrapping paper.
Damagumu said this on Friday during a visit to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum.
He noted that the ongoing challenges faced by many should serve as a lesson in prioritizing reliable and capable leaders over short-term recruitment.
Addressing reporters after a closed door meeting with the governor and other stakeholders in the PDP, he said, “The APC was never ready to govern. So what do we get from the APC?” said.
“Those who accepted spaghetti and wrapping paper to introduce this government are the ones who have suffered the most and this should serve as a lesson. We are not leaders who just say ‘Emi Lo Can’; We must seek trusted, proven, and tested leaders who are truly ready to govern. ” (SIC)
Damagumu expressed concern that many Nigerians continue to endure hardship, saying this was due to the policies of the Tinubu administration under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Bala Mohammed, who spoke about Damagum’s visit, denied the existence of any faction within the PDP.
He also reassured that the issues of suspension and domestic crisis would be resolved amicably.
