Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as an exciting drama.
Naija News reports that Nigerians have woken up to the news of the creation of two factions within the party leadership.
A faction of the PDP loyal to Acting National Chairman Umaru Damagum announced in a statement on Friday morning the suspension of the National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, and the National Legal Adviser, Mr. Kamaludeen Ajibade (SAN).
This was disclosed by the PDP National Public Relations Director, Chinwe Norom, in a statement released early on Friday morning.
Norom explained that in accordance with the party’s constitution, the party had set up a committee headed by party vice-president (southern) Taofik Alapaja to investigate the concerns raised against the leaders.
However, the Ajibade-led faction reacted immediately, suspending Damagum and national secretary Samuel Anyanwu for alleged loyalty to the party.
Mr Ologunagba issued a statement on Friday announcing that Mr Damagumu and Mr Anyanwu had also been suspended.
Reacting to the crisis rocking the party, Fayose said in a post on his X handle that Nigerians need to sit back and see how this crisis plays out.
He writes: “PDP: It’s shaping up to be a very exciting drama.
“Let’s see how it ends."
