Former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, has called for the removal of the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, due to poor performance.
According to a report in Naija News, Mr. Suswam made this remark at the expanded caucus of the PDP in Makurdi, noting that the national leadership under the Damagum administration is interested in destroying the party. He vowed never to allow such a thing to happen.
Swam said Damagum had turned the party into a business venture and argued that he was not qualified to remain in the party leadership.
The former governor also accused the party’s national leadership of conspiring with other negative elements to weaken the party.
“Damagum has to go whether we like it or not,” he said.
Commenting on the political situation in Benue State, Saswan said there was collusion with Kangaroo Local Government and some party leaders to hold the state assembly.
He said that delegates were assembled to operate the state assembly even though there was no district or local government assembly, and he described it as a sham and declared that it would not be established, so why does the state assembly not exist? I wondered.
Swam announced that he is not short of ideas and stressed that he will seek better and stronger alternatives if the current strategy fails.
In his address, the Benue State Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Christian Adaba Abah, thanked the PDP faithful for their steadfast support and urged them to maintain faith in the party, assuring them that they would not regret it.
