The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted on following the judgment of the Court of Appeal regarding the post of national secretary.
In a telephone interview with The Sun newspaper on Sunday, the Chairman of the Central Bank Committee, Senator Adolphus Wabara, stressed that the PDP, as a law-abiding party, cannot ignore the Court of Appeal’s decision.
Naija News reports that the Enugu Division of the Court of Appeal has appointed former PDP National Youth Leader, Mr. Sunday Ude-Okoye, as the National General Secretary of the party to replace Senator Samuel Anyanwu on December 20, 2024. supported.
The judgment came following two separate appeals affirming the appointment of Mr. Ude Okoye by the PDP South East Chapter after Mr. Anyanwu emerged as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 Imo State elections.
Despite the court’s decision, Anyangwu applied for a stay of execution and maintained his claims against the firm, citing an appeal against the judgment.
Mr. Wabara called on all institutions, including the National Working Committee (NWC), to abide by the court’s ruling. He stressed the importance of respecting the judiciary to maintain the rule of law within the party.
“The judiciary is the people’s last hope. No matter how good or bad the judgment is, it is the law. Once a judgment has been made, it is the law and must be respected. Failure to respect the ruling will lead to anarchy.
“Therefore, I appeal to the members of the National Working Committee that they must abide by the judgment of the Court of Appeal. In particular, I heard that recently there were appeals. One was from Anyangwu’s side and the other It was a lawsuit from Ude Okoye’s side. The court accepted two appeals and handed down the verdict.
“No one should go against that judgment. The PDP is known to be very law-abiding. Every judgment from the court is law. Even after the Court of Appeal, it cannot go all the way to the Supreme Court. Masu.
“And once the Supreme Court rules, that’s it. But for now, the Court of Appeal’s ruling stands and the NWC and BoT should abide by it. If there’s a contrary ruling, all of the party’s The institution must abide by the judgment.”
Mr. Wahara further added, “That judgment is a declaratory judgment, and it cannot remain a declaratory judgment. You can object to it, but in this case, the higher court in this case, the Supreme Court, must file a declaratory judgment.” You cannot disobey a declaratory judgment just because you have filed a complaint or are attempting to contest it. This is the equivalent of halting the execution.”
