The Zamfara state branch of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has denied allegations regarding the organisation of Tarata Mafara’s political gatherings, making clear about recent activities in the region.
Naija News reports that the allegations were rejected in a statement released by the party’s propaganda secretary Haliru Andi and were shared on Friday with a journalist in the provincial capital of Gusau.
“We want to clearly state that the PDP is not involved in political gatherings at Talata Mafara and is completely separate from such events. The gathering in question is the party’s It doesn’t represent a position or intention,” Andy pointed out.
He reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to complying with the state government’s ongoing ban on political assembly, and emphasized that the party will fully respect and adhere to the directive.
“In line with this commitment, the PDP has also suspended planned inaugurations for zone offices across the three Senate districts,” he added.
The party also called on its members and opposition parties to comply with the order and avoid organizing political gatherings within the state during this period.
The statement also detailed that a delegation of party officials traveled to Talata Mafara for two different purposes.
First, following the unfortunate gunpowder explosion and recent attacks in the town of Jangebe, we express our sadness towards the Emirates of Mafara.
Second, in line with the party’s internal management protocols, delivering letters of appointment to newly appointed party executives during personal meetings.
