Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Mr. Ortom said this when G14 members paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Makurdi at his residence in Judges Quarters along Gboko Road.
He called on the group to do more to ensure the party in the state bounces back stronger.
The former governor appealed to lawmakers to overcome the crisis that would deny the party victory in the 2023 state elections.
The G14 is made up of PDP elders from the 14 local government areas of the Tiv district.
Ortom, who took over as co-chairman of the group on Tuesday, received the group at his residence and said no one has the authority to disband the group.
“As state party leader, I will continue to support this group, but I would like to emphasize that no one has the right to disband this group,” Ortom said.
“I urge you to work with party conscience and forget past grievances. Now more than ever, we must work harder than ever to bring back those who want to join us. No.
“We know that many of you are eager to return to the party. Let us begin a new journey. With God on our side, we will return the party to power in 2027.”
