Silents Synced Presents Nosferatu with Radiohead
Friday 4, Eastside Cinema & Blue Starlight Mini Urban Drive-in North Central
There is no such thing as a silent movie. From the earliest days, films were always intended to be played with a soundtrack, either performed live or using vinyl discs or wax cylinders included with prints. Blue Starlight Mini Urban Drive-In maverick Josh Frank has taken that old wisdom and delivered a new release of speechless classics in sync with classic alt-rock albums. He’s making these chimeras of old and new available in independent theaters around the world, and just finished a sold-out run in LA. Now he brings home the first of these pairings, perfectly paired with F.W. Murnau’s groundbreaking expressionist vampire shocker Nosferatu: Symphony of Terror. Two albums by Radiohead, Kid A, and Amnesiac. – Richard Whitaker

nicky lane
Sunday 6, Sage Blush
When Nikki Lane released her second album, All or Nothing, 10 years ago, it ignited independent country music. Beneath the hard undertones, it was rebellious and rock music, with a brutally raw and seductively smoky sound. That attitude paved the way for an emerging generation of artists like Sierra Ferrell and a new brand of female-led outlaw country, and Lanez released her fourth LP, 2022’s Denim & Diamonds. ” and continued to guide it. Usher: past present future
Monday 7th – Tuesday 8th, Moody Center
Over the past 30 years, R&B has undergone several transformations. From the intense displays inspired by New Jack Swing to the subdued vocals supporting the somewhat desperate lyrics. From soul songs blending into church to begging in the rain, one name has survived it all and maintained its timeless instrument. That is US-HER RA-YM-OND. The seemingly ageless R&B superstar brings all the stage spectacle of his Vegas residency, along with the early-to-mid-August nostalgia of the roaring ’90s and his loyal fanbase. If his Super Bowl halftime show this year is any indication, the audience will be in for one hell of a ride. – Cy White
