ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Italian American Heritage Day will be held at the Rochester Public Market later Sunday.
Enjoy Italian music, culture and cuisine from 11am to 4pm. New this year, participants will be able to learn more about Italian sports such as bocce and soccer. Bills fans can also attend the event to watch the game at 1 p.m.
“When Italians immigrated to America, they brought with them their faith, their love of family and life, and their passion for food, justice, and the arts. They also brought with them skills that helped build bridges, railroads, homes, and buildings. and brought their sense of community to our city,” said Cugini di Roc member Kathy Castagna. “By honoring the many contributions of Italian Americans and celebrating their heritage by gathering and enjoying delicious food and family-centered fun, we are helping us carry on their legacy.” We welcome your visit.”
You may also find Nazarene University students being interviewed in both English and Italian as part of an effort to document the traditions that many immigrant families brought to Rochester.
