Jack Reville, the Scottish DJ and producer known to many as Jackmaster, has died at the age of 38, his family has announced.
Reville died on Saturday morning in Ibiza from “complications from an accidental head injury,” his family announced.
“It is with deep sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Reville, known to many as the Jack Master," the statement read.
“Jack tragically passed away in Ibiza on the morning of October 12th due to complications from an accidental head injury.
“His family, Kate, Sean and Johnny, are completely heartbroken.
“While we have been deeply touched by the overwhelming support from our friends, colleagues, and fans, our family requests that our privacy be respected as we work through the immense pain of this devastating loss. ”
Born in Glasgow, Revill worked at the city’s famous record shop Rubadub and later co-founded the record label Numbers.
He recently released his single “Nitro” featuring Kid Enigma, and told music magazine “Electronic Groove”:
“Unfortunately, those moments are rare these days. Blame the phone and the person who doesn’t dance.
“I’m very grateful to my fans, but I got into music because I love dancing. I think it’s a lost art form at this point.”
Electronic duo Disclosure also paid their respects, writing on Instagram: My heart was broken. Jack, thank you for the wonderful memories and inspiration. This is really, really bad. ”
Reville’s Instagram page had a post from DU duo Camel Fat’s official Instagram account. Our thoughts are with family and friends. Rest in peace my friend.
