The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said Sokoto State, led by Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, has become a mockery of Nigeria.
The outgoing PDP Sokoto state chapter chairman, Bello Goronyo, said the people of the state were eager to see the PDP return as the leader of the state.
Goronyo said this while addressing the party’s state convention held at the party’s secretariat on Saturday.
“At a time when Sokoto is attracting the ridicule of the whole nation for its government’s ethical and moral scandals.
“The good people of Sokoto State are also witnesses to these realities and are waiting for the next opportunity to take the state back to its glory days under the PDP,” Goronyo said.
The PDP chairman accused the Sokoto governor of recklessly wasting the state’s resources. He argued that the current government is spending billions of dollars on projects that are not worth it.
“Under this administration, billions of naira in the state, from roundabouts to boring drilling, have once again become meaningless.
“They continue to use our resources recklessly and it is not worth the expense,” Goronyo said.
He added that progress had been made in all areas in Sokoto under the PDP administration of former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. He noted that this is an era of accountability and inclusive governance.
The Nigerian Tribune quoted him as saying, “During our party’s tenure in power, the state witnessed a period of progress in all areas, an era of transparency, accountability and inclusive governance with sound politics on the part of the PDP. “I have witnessed it,” he said.
