Taylor Swift has donated $5 million to relief efforts related to Hurricanes Helen and Milton.
The charity Feeding America is “incredibly grateful to Swift…This donation will help communities rebuild and recover, and provide much-needed food, clean, and safe access to those affected by these devastating storms.” They will provide water and supplies,” he said.
The donation was made as Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida, knocking out power to 2 million homes. The disaster comes less than two weeks after Hurricane Helen barreled through the northern part of the state toward Georgia and the Carolinas, causing massive flooding and other damage.
Swift is known for her charity work during natural disasters. In December 2023, she donated $1 million to tornado relief efforts in her home state of Tennessee, where six people were killed and hundreds of buildings were damaged. She donated another $1 million to the same cause in 2020.
She also frequently donates to food banks, including stops on her record-breaking Elas tour. In June, Cardiff Foodbank received its largest ever donation from individuals and chief executive Rachel Biggs said: It is a sustainable movement that supports those who currently need our help. ”
Swift hopes to perform in Florida next week. The final leg of the Eras tour begins October 18th in Miami Gardens, then visits New Orleans, Indianapolis, and Toronto, before concluding in Vancouver on December 8th. Gross revenue for the tour, which began in March 2023, is expected to reach $2 billion.
