The Kogi State High Court has barred Enemona Anyebe from asserting the position of the state’s opposition Democratic Party (PDP).
Naija News reported on Tuesday that Judge Yahaya Adam of the State High Court in Lokoja had ruled on the HC/OKP/8/2024 number that John Ojodar brought against PDP and another party. I’m doing it.
The judge required a new election to be held within 45 days to fill the vacant seat of the chair, and determined that Enemona Anyebe would not be able to be carried out.
In his decision, Judge Adam noted that he was not a participant in the PDP assembly held on August 31, 2024 due to a suspension from the party.
In response to the court’s decision, Hon. Muhammad Sani Gambo, the first runner-up in Kogi State’s PDP Congress on August 31, 2024, claimed he was the rightful chairman of the party.
Gumbo claimed that he was the main beneficiary of the verdict because he did not abolish the election, but rather confirmed that Enemona Aniewe should not be the candidate.
Nevertheless, he opposed the court’s order for a new election within 45 days, claiming that the demand for a new election was not part of the original summons and was lightly empty.
“Our case is in front of the Federal High Court and we intend to appeal to the section of the awards in which the judge ordered a new election within 45 days,” he said.
“This was not part of the plaintiff’s outgoing summons and not even a party to the suit filed in the state high court.”
Gambo added that he was not appointed chairman because he was not a party to the lawsuit. He made it clear that he petitioned the Federal High Court in Lokoha to make it clear that election victory was legal.
He urged his followers and state PDP members to maintain their composure, pledging that the Federal High Court would file the necessary lawsuits and consider him the legitimately elected PDP chairperson of the state.
