All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Joe Igbokwe, has advised 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to shelve his 2027 political ambitions until 2031.
He claimed in a Facebook post on Monday that it is impossible for Atiku to become president in 2027.
He said: “Former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is still struggling and dreams of becoming the President of Nigeria in 2027.
“All things considered, it can't fly. He should wait until 2031. Still age is not on his side.”
This comes in the backdrop of SGF Government Secretary George Akume’s statement that no one from the North should contest against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Akume, like Atiku and other northern leaders, said Tinubu should be allowed to continue for a second term in 2027.
Nigerians are still throwing naira on the ground – Joe Igbokwe warns authorities
Meanwhile, Igbokwe said Nigerians were still cutting the naira.
Mr. Igbokwe on Sunday, through his Facebook account, alerted authorities that Nigerians still throw naira notes on the ground and walk on them during parties, burials, naming ceremonies, etc.
The politician wondered whether the ban on naira abuse had been lifted.
He writes: “Just to remind the relevant authorities, Nigerians still throw naira notes on the ground and walk on them at parties, burials, naming ceremonies, etc. Have we lifted the ban? ? So you understand.”
As part of efforts to stop naira mutilation, some Nigerian celebrities have ended up facing the wrath of the law.
Naija News reports that popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye alias Bobrisky has been sentenced to six months in prison.
Popular socialite Pascal Okechukwu, also known as the Chief Priest of Cubana, was also charged with naira abuse.
He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.
