The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed the forgery in a lawsuit affirming Ude Okoy as the state secretary on Sunday, accusing the All Progressive Congress (APC) of being held liable.
Naija News reports that the PDP knew this and in response to the court’s ruling, ordered an investigation into primary election guidelines on allegations of forgery.
Remember that the PDP was caught up in a leadership crisis, with Samuel Anyanwu and Ude Okoye on Sunday appealing to the position of the Secretary of State.
The party’s Southeast Zonal Executive Committee appointed Udeokoi on behalf of Anyanhu after becoming PDP governor candidate for IMO state in 2023.
Anyanwu had obtained a court injunction against his departure.
However, in December 2024, Court of Appeals Judge Ridwan Abdullahi dismissed the High Court’s decision.
In a new twist on the crisis, the Magistrates’ Court in Abuja ordered the police to investigate allegations that party officials used forged documents during the appeals court hearing.
The court issued an order following a petition filed by PDP member Mike Iheanaetu.
In response to the court’s order, PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba described the allegations of forgery as sensational and misleading, emphasizing that the top officials of the APC administration are responsible for the scandal.
"Our party is shocked by the level of despair displayed by these individuals. They reportedly vowed to destroy the PDP so that APC can eliminate APC. We have been supported by certain top officials of the APC administration. Our country’s totalitarian and oppressive one-party system against the res and damages of Nigerians.
“Our party is trying to drag the police and magistrate courts of Abuja into the internal affairs of the party despite the declarations of various courts of various classes, including the Supreme Court by these desperate individuals. I am keen to a scandalous and condemnable attempt. Nomination of candidates for elections is strictly an internal affairs issue for political parties that the court has no jurisdiction.”
