Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke revealed that his campaign efforts were funded by his brother, Deji Adeleke.
He also made it clear that his brother never asked him for money or contracts after he took office.
Governor Adereke revealed this in an interview with Punch released on Saturday. There he dealt with the issue of Godfatherism.
Governor Osun submitted that he has no Godfather as he expects contact information and financial benefits in exchange for funding the election, but in his own case, he funded his campaign. The brothers have never asked him anything.
Instead of making financial demands, he added that his brother always reminds him of his responsibility to the people of Osun state who took him into office.
“When the Godfather funds your election or lends money for a campaign, they expect contracts and financial rewards in return. You are obliged to them and please them. Governance suffers when trying to do so. After being appointed for two years, there is little or nothing to display.
“I am grateful to my family’s unwavering support, especially my brother, Dr. Deji Adelek, who funded my election. He also asked me for a single Kobo or asked for a contract. Instead, he reminds me of my promise to always provide good governance and ensure that the Osun people enjoy the dividends of democracy. He deviates from this path. If he did, he warned me that he would personally hold a press conference to condemn me.
“I am fortunate enough to have a supportive family, which has played an important role in helping me achieve my goals in Osun State,” Governor Adereke said. Ta.
The governor also denied the charges of nepotism in his appointment to the government, saying that his appointment was not controlled by Ede’s relatives.
According to him, the people of Ijesa and Osogbo are benefiting more from his government.
“That’s not true. Of the first four I appointed when I became governor, only one was from the EDE, and they are all Muslims. When it comes to major appointments, only the Chief of Staff is important. That’s what I can say. Another important appointment, Works Ministry, is just under my supervision because I want to ensure I achieve my goals.
“In fact, the people at Ijesa and Osogbo are benefiting more. Our administration runs an open government and we can verify my point anywhere in the state. We The location of the project is available for public scrutiny so you can see which cities or towns are getting what.”
