Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, Adewole Adebayo, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s government of only doing business and not running the country.
In an interview with Daily Trust on Friday, Adebayo claimed that their primary mission is business and that is why they are trying to run the oil industry without a regulatory framework.
He further said that the Federal Government views Nigerians as customers who can earn extra money by stocking up on petrol.
Adebayo said: “They are not running the country. They are just doing business. Sometimes they get distracted by government duties, but their main mission is They think that’s why they’re running the oil industry without a regulatory framework. They’re not running the economy. They’re running the government. It doesn’t mean that it is.
“They don’t see you or me as citizens, they see us as customers. Their approach is commercial, because they can get extra money from you by stocking up on gasoline. , we see you as a customer. By understanding public education, we can get extra money from you.
“So they are not going to do anything because they are not ready to abide by Chapter 2 of the Constitution which sets out how governance should be done in Nigeria. What is the responsibility of the government? If you call them, they have no responsibility because the Minister of Water Resources is not responsible for whether there is water or not.
“The Minister of Education is not responsible for your educational outcomes, whether you fail WAEC or JAMB. The Minister of Health is not responsible for your life expectancy or your medical outcomes. They are only holding these titles so that they can submit their signatures to win the prize. Beyond that, they are not going to do anything else, whether it is in Lagos or in Brisbane. Remember we had the best water anywhere in the area.
“No one gave water to anyone. Before we had the best hospitals. UCH Ibadan used to be number one or number two in the entire English-speaking world. We have people in power. But they are not part of the government because they do not govern.”
