The acting national chairman of the embattled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umaru Damagumu, has attacked Nigerians who supported President Bola Tinubu during the campaign.
He said they are now enduring the consequences of exchanging their votes for items such as spaghetti and wrapping paper.
Damagumu said this on Friday during a visit to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum.
He noted that the ongoing challenges faced by many should serve as a lesson in prioritizing reliable and capable leaders over short-term recruitment.
Addressing reporters after a closed-door meeting with the governor and other stakeholders in the PDP, he said, “The APC was never ready to govern. So what do we get from the APC?” said.
“Those who accepted spaghetti and wrapping paper to introduce this government are the ones who have suffered the most and this should serve as a lesson. We are not leaders who just say ‘Emi Lo Can’; We must seek trusted, proven, and tested leaders who are truly ready to govern. ” (SIC)
Damagumu expressed concern that many Nigerians continue to endure hardship, saying this was due to the policies of the Tinubu administration under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Bala Mohammed, who spoke about Damagum’s visit, denied the existence of any faction within the PDP.
He also reassured that the issues of suspension and domestic crisis would be resolved amicably.
