“Tommy Foote spent 50 years in the music industry, serving as George Strait’s original drummer with the Ace in the Hole Band. He then served as his tour manager for over 40 years.” said Courtney Fraser, a longtime friend of Foote. “He always stayed true to his roots and never lost sight of where he came from. He loved his community, his family and his friends.
“He lived in San Marcos and spoke highly of his alma mater, SWT (now Texas State University). Tommy always went above and beyond, raising money for causes and supporting those in need. “I was helping,” she said. “His legacy will live forever in the hearts of everyone who knew him, and the mark he left on this world will never be erased.”
Foote has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Texas Music History Center since its founding in 1999. He served on the Center’s advisory board for many years and helped promote the Center in a variety of ways. One of Foote’s greatest pleasures was regularly guest lecturing in TXST music history classes in conjunction with the Texas Music History Center.
Through this scholarship, the Texas Music History Center strives to ensure that Foote’s legacy endures.
