Donald Trump’s senior aides have threatened to prosecute their perceived opponent over J.D. Vance’s skillful debate performance against Tim Walz, according to a person close to the president. Despite the former president’s increasingly harsh threats, he said he viewed his campaign as a positive showing.
Campaign aides also said that after months of severe punishment for making derogatory comments about women, calling them “childless cat ladies,” Mr. Vance has reset the narrative on his image and appealed to undecided voters. believed that it was likely to have been received more favorably.
The question of Mr. Vance’s favorability was perhaps a top priority for President Trump’s senior aides, but with less than five weeks to go before Election Day in a near-tight race against Mr. This is because they believed that it was possible to fix it, and that it would be beneficial to the Trump campaign if it could be fixed.
Trump later claimed that Vance won the debate, as expected, but a CBS News poll found that vice presidential debates are more important in close elections than ground-based efforts to boost turnout. It was confirmed that the gender is becoming lower and lower.
In a post-debate poll, 42% of respondents said Vance won the debate, 41% gave Walz the victory, and 17% said it was a tie. This suggests the main conclusion remains that Vance is unlikely to play a significant role in either campaign. Win each of the seven battleground states in November.

Trump aides said Mr. Vance’s answers seemed more sophisticated than Mr. Walz’s, and that Mr. Vance almost always responded to interruptions or prompt fact-checks from Mr. Walz, the CBS News host. I was relieved that I was able to make an offensive comment without it. Margaret Brennan.
They also cited Mr. Vance’s efforts to overturn Mr. Trump’s record of trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act and the results of the 2020 election, which culminated in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and resulted in criminal charges. I was also relieved that Trump didn’t have to whitewash his efforts to do so.
Mr. Vance falsely claimed that Mr. Trump did not intend to destroy Obamacare and wanted a bipartisan solution to affordable health care, when in fact Mr. Trump was in the Senate with Sen. John McCain. blocked by lawmakers. Regarding the attack on the Capitol, President Trump never called in the National Guard and resisted calling out the mob until it was already over.
Trump’s vice presidential nominee has come under fire in the uncomfortable areas of abortion and gun violence, two of which Vance at one point said he would like to discuss on policy solutions to prevent school shootings. He said the solution is to strengthen the doors and windows.
But Trump aides suggested after the debate that Walz had enough of his own gaffes to use to distract from Vance’s ambiguous answers.
In particular, Trump aides pointed out that Walz misspoken about gun violence when he said he was friends with some of the school shooters (he clearly meant to say the shooting victims). He then pointed out that he struggled to explain why he falsely claimed to have visited Hong Kong. During the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989.
“Tonight, Sen. Vance proved why President Trump chose him as his running mate,” President Trump’s co-campaign managers Susie Wiles and Chris Lacivita said in a statement. “Together, we have the strongest and most dynamic presidential ticket ever and will win on November 5th.”
