Voting is now open for nominations for the 5th Gold Derby Music Awards. Log in to your Gold Derby account or sign up for a free account and vote now for your favorite artists, albums, songs, and music videos across 27 categories (illustrated instructions for desktop below). Voting closes at the end of Thursday, October 31st.
In the big five categories (Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist), choose your top five favorite suggestions in order of preference. The first choice earns 5 points, the second choice 4 points, the third choice 3 points, the fourth choice 2 points, and the fifth choice 1 point. The top 10 point earners in each of these categories will be the nominees.

For the remaining races, vote for your top three favorites in order of preference. The first choice earns 3 points, the second choice 2 points, and the third choice 1 point. The top five points earners in these races will be the official candidates. You can vote in as many categories as you like and edit your ballot as much as you like. Final votes will not be cast until voting closes on October 31st.
Generally, our awards follow the Grammy Awards eligibility calendar (in this case, September 16, 2023 to August 30, 2024), but we do not accept awards that were previously released and did not receive attention until the current eligibility period. We made some exceptions for musical achievements (e.g. “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims). Also, Lisa and Sabrina Carpenter are included in the Grammy Awards’ Best New Artist voting, but you won’t find them here. Lisa has already won Best New Artist at the 2021 GDMA as a member of Blackpink. And Carpenter just received that award from us last year. Meanwhile, in the Pop, Rock/Alternative, Country/Americana, R&B, Rap/Hip-Hop, Latin, Dance/EDM, and Best Music Video categories, eligible nominees will be determined by preliminary voting by savvy Gold Derby Forum posters. However, there are limits to the number of nominations an artist can receive per category. There may be only one nomination in each category per credited artist. For example, if Charli XCX receives enough votes to be nominated for both “360” and “Von Dutch” in a category, she will only receive the nomination for the song that received more votes. . The exception to this rule is when different combinations of artists are credited together. So if Charli gets enough votes to be nominated for “360” (which only she is credited with) and the “Guess” remix (which features artist Billie Eilish is credited with); She will be nominated for both accomplishments.
