The Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Anthony Ajigbemi, said there was overwhelming evidence to prove that fraud had adversely affected the recently concluded governorship election in the state.
Mr. Agiegbemi disclosed this on Wednesday during a protest at Benin’s Independent National Electoral Commission INEC office, Naija News reports.
PDP Campaign Council Secretary-General Matthew Iduoriekemwen and Deputy Secretary-General (Media and Public Relations) Olu Martins joined PDP supporters in protesting to express their dissatisfaction with the election results. Participated.
Mr. Agiegbemi called on INEC to declare Mr. Ighodaro the rightful winner, accusing the commission of allegedly manipulating the results of certain local governments in favor of other candidates. Ta.
He reassured his supporters that the PDP would regain its mandate and urged them to be patient as the judiciary reviews the case and renders a just verdict.
He said: “Thank you to everyone who has joined us on this journey to reclaim our stolen mission which has been subverted by both the police and INEC.”
“If we had lost in a free and fair contest, we would have congratulated them, but they stole our mission. Therefore, we cannot congratulate them.
“This is Nigeria. We will not allow our victory to be stolen from us. We are confident that the overwhelming evidence we are about to present will help restore our mission.”
