The Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Oluwatoyin Babalola, has said allegations that there is a preferred candidate for the November 16 gubernatorial election are false.
Naija News gathered that while youths in the state were protesting at the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under the banner of the Ondo State Youth Vanguard on Wednesday, the REC in partnership with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The youths also claimed that the REC was secretly meeting with Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election.
While dismissing the claims of the youths raised in the petition submitted to the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr Oluwatoyin said he was only associated with all political parties. said.
The REC has dismissed purported secret meetings with Governor Ayedatiwa or the APC leadership, adding that she has no preferred candidate in the upcoming elections.
She said: I have never had a secret meeting with the governor or members of any political party.
“At INEC, we have relationships with all political parties. I have an open door policy to all and there are no preferred candidates for election. I am not affiliated with any political party.
“In this election, we will ensure that every vote counts. We promise that there will be no bias in any form. Elections will be free, fair and credible. Dew.”
