The national chairman of the Social Democrats (SDP), Shef Musa Gaban, has passed away to the party as the motivation and energy that encourages more Nigerians to join the party, as the departure of former Kaduna Governor Nasir El Rufai.
Gaban made a declaration in a statement Monday, where he confirmed all El Rufai’s pro-government to SDP from all Progressive Conferences (APC).
He said the ex-Kaduna governor’s exile was a historic move that strengthened the party and encouraged other well-intentioned Nigerians to join the SDP.
The SDP chairman said El Rufai is known for his bold reforms, excellence and national influence, and while he welcomes the former governor, the party is ready to put people first.
He affirmed the SDP’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and democratic institutions.
“Today we have a historic moment, as former Kaduna Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai has officially joined the Social Democrats (SDP)!
“As a man known for his bold reform, governance excellence and national influence, his presence further invigorates our movement and encourages more Nigerians to join us in building a better future.
“SDP is truly a party that puts people first. Welcome Elrufai and encourages all well-intentioned Nigerians to join the movement. The future is SDP!” Gaban announced.
Naija News previously reported that El-Rufai had dumped the SDP APC on Monday. This cites complaints about the way the ruling party’s operations have been handled by leaders, especially over the past two years.
