Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has called on Nigerian youths to participate in politics to determine their destiny and bring about change. Otti gave this advice during a service at the Transforming Church (TTC) in Abuja on Sunday.
He explained that every society needs the kind of leadership it deserves, saying:
“I challenge all the young people here: don’t run away from politics. That’s where decisions about your future are made.”
Quoting Psalm 62:11, the governor said that power belongs to God and advised young people not to run away from power.
“If you have power, you can make a lot of changes, and that’s what politics gives you to create the changes you want in people’s lives.
“Because when you run for political office, you have the opportunity to impact more people’s lives than you can imagine,” he says.
Otti said he left the banking industry in 2014 and joined politics to bring about change in a different way.
He said that as governor of Abia, he could impact all residents of the state with just one action.
He called on Christians not to pray alone, but to praise their prayers with earnest effort, adding that in this way their dreams and aspirations will come true.
During his sermon, the church’s senior pastor, Pastor Sam Oye, spoke of God’s mercy and called on Nigerians to remain strong in their faith and never give up on their dreams.
Reading Psalm 119:68, Oye emphasized the need for people to learn how to be kind to others.
He thanked the Otti couple for visiting the church and reiterated the church’s commitment to praying for those in leadership positions.
