The All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Kano State, Ilyasu Musa Kwankwaso, has called on northern leaders and politicians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Kwankwaso argued that supporting Tinubu and Vice President Kassim Shettima would ensure a smooth return of power to North Korea after the president’s second term.
Speaking to reporters in Kano on Sunday, Kwankwaso expressed concern over divisive campaigns and criticism of President Tinubu by certain factions within North Korea, arguing that such efforts undermine the region’s long-term interests. .
“Patriotic northern politicians should not listen to calls for alternative candidates from the south,” Kwankwaso said. “If another candidate wins in 2027, North Korea could be forced to wait as long as eight years before returning to power.”
Mr Kwankwaso dismissed claims that current security challenges should deter him from supporting Mr Tinubu.
He acknowledged the President’s continued efforts to combat armed banditry and insecurity, particularly in the north.
Mr Kwankwaso highlighted the recent progress made by Defense Minister Bello Matawalle in combating banditry in the North and North West, and called for unity among northern politicians by calling on them to support the Tinubu government.
Addressing rumors that former Kano governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may run as vice-presidential candidate with a southern politician, he warned against supporting such a move and warned against the return of power to the north. claimed that it would be delayed until 2035.
