The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has advised the incoming governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpeboro, to avoid going after the administration of outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Naija News reported that Ganduje offered this advice during Okpebolo’s courtesy visit to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) on Thursday.
Mr. Ganduje encouraged Mr. Okpebolo to prioritize good governance once he takes office, suggesting a proactive approach.
“The ideals of democracy were upheld, elections were held, and we are on the winning side. We should not focus on the previous government. We should look forward, not look back, and fight against the person we inherited. Don’t waste your time,” Ganduje said.
He stressed that a “progressive government” is one that moves forward rather than dwells on the past.
He advised Okpeboro to adhere to the party’s manifesto, aiming for socio-economic progress and building bridges with stakeholders.
“Concentrate on the manifesto that you have worked so hard to create and implement it to the letter. Be a forward-thinking and active governor,” he added, recalling Mr. Okpebolo’s energetic campaigning style, which was inspired by the Edo I believe it will make you proud.
Ganduje assured the governor-elect of the party’s support to fulfill his campaign promises, but called on him to ensure that party offices at all levels continue to function.
He said the Progressive Institute, an intellectual arm of the APC, was recently established to support training at the local government level and help shape a political agenda in line with the needs of Nigerians. I mentioned what happened.
Earlier, Okpebolo reflected on the election, admitting it was a challenging feat.
He credited Ganduje’s presence in Edo days before the vote as contributing to the success of the APC and expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for promoting peace during and after the election.
He said: I know how many times I received calls from the Speaker about preparing for elections. His presence in Edo was felt and had a great influence. ”
Mr. Okpebolo also expressed gratitude for a peaceful election day in which there were no fatalities and emphasized the people’s optimism for a “new dawn” under the leadership of the APC.
The Obaseki administration is scheduled to be handed over to Okpeboro on November 12.
