Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has said that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike is in charge in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Naija News reported that Mr Muhammad made this comment in response to Mr Wike’s criticism of Mr Tinubu’s tax reform bill.
Recall that Mr. Muhammad, who is the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, has frequently opposed the tax bill, claiming that it favors certain areas.
Mr. Muhammad, in a statement issued by his media adviser, Mr. Mukhtar Gidad, on Thursday, said attempts to question Mr. Wike’s stand on the bill were hypocritical.
The governor accused Wike of dishonesty and “dual loyalty” to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and PDP, stressing that this is a dangerous precedent for Nigerian politics.
Mr. Bala Mohammed also said that Mr. Wike should use his platform to unite and inspire Nigerians, but Mr. Wike has reduced the public service to a theater of the absurd, alienated stakeholders and created unnecessary He also said it was creating tension.
The statement read: “Mr Wike’s attempt to question Senator Bala Mohammed’s opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bill is not only baseless but hypocritical.
“Wike smoothly transitioned from a self-proclaimed supporter of the PDP to an ardent supporter of the APC government, even as he accused others of dishonesty.
“He is currently advocating for re-election in the same APC government in 2027 while continuing to claim membership in the PDP. This chameleon-like behavior raises serious questions about Wike’s credibility and moral compass. cause
“Nigerians are not fooled by Wike’s antics. They want a man who is willing to undermine his own party for personal gain, a man whose loyalties shift as quickly as alliances. I’m watching.
“Chief Wike’s tenure as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has been characterized by weekly spectacles of media insults rather than governance.
“Instead of using his platform to unite and inspire, Wike reduced the public service to a theater of the absurd, alienating stakeholders and creating unnecessary tension.
“His combative style and inability to engage in constructive dialogue have made him a liability to the government he serves and a source of embarrassment for his former party.
“His persistent noisemaking and attention-seeking behavior distracts from the important work of governing and undermines the credibility of the very government he claims to represent.
“Chief Wike’s dual loyalty – if you can call it that – is a dangerous precedent in Nigerian politics. His shameless oscillations between the PDP and the APC undermine the moral fabric of our democracy. It is something.”
