Boniface Anibonam, founder and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), said Buba Galadima was not in a position to speak for the party.
This is as he claimed that Galadima and some others were expelled from the NNPP.
Mr. Aniebonam, in a statement in Lagos on Sunday, debunked Mr. Galadima’s claim that the federal government was fighting the NNPP government in Kano.
He cautioned against making unverifiable claims about government activities.
“Given the challenges facing the country, all leaders in Nigeria must be mindful of what they say.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us and if there is an uprising, we will all be affected, so we must be careful what we say.
“NNPP is not against legitimate criticism of government policies, but we are against individuals who use platforms that do not belong to them to spread lies,” Anibonam said.
His position is a direct response to Mr. Galadima’s submission in an interview with Channels Television on Thursday in which he accused the federal government of fighting the NNPP government of Kano State Governor Aba Yusuf. It was issued as.
However, Anybonam submitted that there is a need to distinguish between the Kwankwasiya Movement and the NNPP.
He charged that the NNPP as a party was not under any form of attack in Kano State.
“He must have known that there is a big difference between the NNPP and the Kwankwasiya Movement, which he runs with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
“The NNPP has long severed ties with the movement.
“There is a need to distinguish between the Kwankwasiya movement and the NNPP.
“Galadima and others have long been expelled from the NNPP due to the expiry of the MOU that brought us and the movement together, and are therefore no longer able to represent us in any capacity.”
“The NNPP as a party is not under any form of attack in Kano state,” Mr Anibonam said.
