Governor Siminalai Hubala of Rivers State has blamed the slow pace of work by contractors undertaking the complete reconstruction and landscaping of structures at Okrika Grammar School in Okrika Local Government Area of the state.
He wondered why the school board gave him false information that 70 percent of the work was complete.
Fubara was upset that what he saw was far below the percentage given.
He expressed his disappointment when he visited the project site on Monday.
Through a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Nelson Chukwudi on Monday, the visibly angry governor said he would immediately convene a meeting with the contractors and read out the Insurrection Act.
He emphasized strict adherence to mutually agreed project specifications and schedules.
He said, “I heard some reports from the school board and they gave me an update. And since this is my district, I felt I needed to visit.” .
“The truth is that Okrika is very important to me, so I need to see for myself how much work is being done and what standards are being achieved.”
“My assessment: I have to feel very raw: I’m not satisfied, that’s the truth.
“The Secretary has given me the impression that 70 per cent of the work is done, but from what I see here I will take over the oversight of this project and ensure that the people are once again provided with a standard grammar school.” I need it.”
Hubara said the school renovation project focused on renovating what was once the best middle school in the state.
