The Osun State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the plan of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to oust Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2026 governorship election.

He stated this at the opening of the NNPP office in Ira, Boripe and Ifelodun Local Government Areas of the state.
“We at NNPP are optimistic about our chances at the 2026 polls. While the current economic woes are eroding the market for the APC at the federal level, the PDP administration in Osun has the ability to improve governance. This gives us an advantage as we prepare to end Governor Adeleke’s rule,” Odeyemi said.
He assured party members that the NNPP in Osun State has a bright future and urged them to continue their dedicated work.
However, PDP Media and Public Relations Director-General, Oladele Bamiji, told journalists that the NNPP’s claims were baseless.
He claimed that the NNPP was merely trying to please its supporters, adding that the opposition could not prevent the governor from being re-elected.
“They are only trying to please their sponsors. The NNPP cannot prevent the re-election of a proven governor like Senator Ademola Adeleke. The people of Osun cannot afford the progress the state is currently enjoying. We will not allow anyone to spoil it,” Bamiji said.
