Kogi State Governor, Mr. Ahmed Ododo, has called on Nigerian youths to play an active role in strengthening national identity and promoting economic growth, social cohesion and political stability in the country.
Governor Ododo made this call on Tuesday in his address at Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebrations held in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
He stressed the need for Nigerian youths to actively engage in nation-building, joining hands with leaders to ensure the success of the country.
Mr Ododo, who was represented by the Auditor General of Local Government, Mr Yakubu Adabenege, urged the youths to embrace their role as the future driving force of the country.
He further emphasized the importance of unity and collective efforts in building a prosperous Nigeria.
According to him, young people should play an active role in the process of building and strengthening national identities, institutions and infrastructure to promote economic growth, social cohesion and political stability.
Mr. Ododo emphasized the important role played by youth in the country’s development and called for greater innovation, entrepreneurship and social responsibility among the youth.
“Nigeria’s future is in your hands. It is only by joining hands that we can make Nigeria successful. We will overcome today’s challenges and build a better tomorrow. We have to work together,” he advised.
The governor further commended the resilience and potential of Kogi and Nigerian youths and urged them to harness opportunities in various sectors such as technology, agriculture and entrepreneurship to drive the transformation of the country.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and development through various initiatives aimed at harnessing the talents and ideas of the youth for the progress of the country.
Earlier on Monday, Mr. Ogi Youth and Sports Development Chairman, Hon. Aniebe emphasized the important role of Nigerian youths in the future of the country.
Mr. Aniebe, who spoke on the theme “From Independence to Innovation: Youth as Catalysts of Transformation in Nigeria”, stressed the importance of empowering the youth as the key drivers of national development.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since independence in 1960, Mr. Aniebe acknowledged both the challenges and achievements, noting that despite setbacks, the country’s resolve to progress remains unwavering.
Mr. Aniebe commended Governor Ododo’s vision for youth empowerment and highlighted his administration’s priority for youth development by fostering an environment that encourages entrepreneurship, skill development and technological advancement.
In his capacity as Acting Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, Hon. Abdulrazaq Suleiman commended the youths of Kogi State for their resilience and support for his administration and urged them to continue to be worthy ambassadors for the state. urged.
