The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has apologized for a past sermon in which he declared that those who do not pay tithes will not go to heaven.
Tithing is a Biblical command that requires you to give 10 percent of your income to the church. However, the debate over whether paying tithes is mandatory or not is highly controversial.
Adeboye, who is widely referred to as Daddy Go, apologized in a recent sermon and acknowledged that paying tithing as a prerequisite to heaven is unbiblical.
“I’m sorry for saying, ‘If you don’t tithe, you might not get to heaven.’ I’m sorry, but that’s wrong, it’s not in the Bible,” Pastor Adeboye said. Ta.
However, this internationally acclaimed cleric made clear his Biblical position of following peace and holiness with all humanity as a means of creating heaven.
Referring to Hebrews 12:14, “Pursue peace and holiness toward all men, for without it no one will see the Lord.”
Adeboye, who oversees one of Nigeria’s largest churches, had come under fire over earlier messages that many criticized as contradicting the teachings of the Bible.
