The First Lady, Mrs. Remi Tinubu, has described the late wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Patience Umo Eno, as a peaceful, God-fearing woman who loved her people dearly.
She spoke on Friday at the Governor’s Lodge in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, where she joined the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno, to mourn the death of his wife.
In a statement by her media aide Busola Kukoi, the First Lady emotionally reflected on her relationship with the deceased, saying that he served the people and carried out the cause well, and that it was an honor to have met him.
“Politics aside, we are all Nigerians and one thing I thank God for is that when we meet people, we should show love and care.Despite our short lives , I would like to thank God that she was able to complete that course. God will comfort you, your husband, and He will comfort you, your child. I will always be here for you. ” the first lady said.
A register of condolences opened in memory of the deceased was signed by the First Lady, after which special prayers were said for the repose of her soul and the comfort of her family in their moment of grief.
Governor Umo thanked the First Lady for being a true mother to all, saying that party affiliation did not matter when dealing with people.
He described his late wife as his greatest partner and said he would mourn her for the rest of his life.
However, he promised to maintain the operations of the first lady’s office in the state.
The First Lady was joined on the visit by the Vice President’s wife, Hajia Nana Shettima, the wife of the Speaker of Parliament, and the wife of the state governor.
