Ahead of the Anambra State governorship election in November, Labor Party candidates have opened the door to consensus candidacy to ensure victory.
Mr George Moghalu and Mr John Nwosu, both from Nnewi town in Nnewi North local government area of the state, are currently vying on the Labor Party ticket to the election to oust Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Moghalu said at a New Year’s Day press conference that if he and Nwosu did not agree on a single candidate, it would limit the Nnewi people’s potential and lead to a waste of resources for them.
“He (Nwosu) is my brother and friend and in fact my step-in-law. Nothing is cast in iron and we have a good personal relationship. Some of my relatives are also involved in town politics, so I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of meeting and discussing them to avoid wasting resources and time.
“We need to work together to make Nnewi’s dream come true. “It’s not impossible to meet. Politics is human dynamics, so I have no problem with that. I have no intention of ruling it out. No. Even the party constitution stipulates that, so we can talk to make things work,” he said. Said.
The immediate past Managing Director of the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) said what mattered was the victory of the party.
“The important thing is that we want Labor to form a state government and we are working together on this.
“We will definitely meet, we will definitely meet, there is still a lot of time.Yesterday, we were together in Onitsha, so we may still meet and have a conversation before the primaries,” he said.
Mr. Moghar criticized Governor Soludo’s leadership policies and said he will provide quality leadership in the state.
