The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence that the Edo State Governor Election Petition Court will overturn what is described as a “stolen duty” for candidates.
Naija News reports that EDO state PDP acting chairman Tony Azeigbemi made the allegations in Benin city on Monday while speaking to journalists about the Edo issue.
Azeigbemi claimed that since Gov. Okpebholo and All Progressives Congress (APC) took office on Monday, Edo residents have experienced increased hardship, suffering and anxiety.
"For the past three months, Edo people have endured the uncertainty, economic hardships and poor governance under an APC-led administration,” he said.
“Our evidence reveals election fraud.”
The PDP Chairman allegedly presented the party with watertight documentary evidence before the court, proving that the gubernatorial election had been consolidated on September 21, 2024.
“We believe our evidence fully reveals the election robbery that took place during the election,” Azegbemi argued.
He adopted the final written address, adding that the PDP is confident that the court will correct the fraud and return the mandate to the legitimate owner, Dr. Asue Ighodalo.
Azeigbemi also recovered to acting APC chairs, Senator Jarret Tenabe and Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
Azeigbemi dismissed their statement, saying, “The leadership of the APC lacks the insight to read and understand our petition. It is not the APC, but the court members who have the expertise to thoroughly examine and interpret our cases.”
