National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South East Region, Ali Odefa, has been “suspended” from the party.
Mr Odefa’s “suspension” was announced at a press conference by the party’s Ogudu-Okwar Ward Executive Committee, led by the Acting Chairman of Onitsha Local Council of Ebonyi State, Hebert Ovta, who accused him of anti-party activities.
Mr Obuta noted that the suspension was in line with the provisions of Article 57(3) of the PDP Constitution.
The Acting Chairman, flanked by other members of the Executive, said: “We hereby say that the District Executive Committee of PDP Ogudu-Okwolu District suspends the National Vice-Chairman of the PDP South East District, Chief Ali Odefa. I would like to inform you that we have made a resolution.” His anti-party activities and other criminal grounds to destroy the name of our dear party, PDP.
“His suspension is in accordance with the provisions of Article 57 (3) of the PDP Constitution.
“It is also important to inform you that we have further referred Chief Ali Odefa to the district disciplinary committee of the party.”
Party leadership reports that the PDP constitution provides for discipline of the party’s national officers only by the party’s national leadership.
