Under the auspices of the Plateau State Association of America (PSA-USA), the diaspora group pledged to support the development of Plateau State in key areas such as technology, entrepreneurship and education.
The group expressed this determination in a statement signed by General Secretary Nanjul Wiep. The document was released to journalists in Abuja yesterday following the successful conclusion of the 2024 annual national conference and elections and the emergence of new leadership.
The theme of the event is “Innovation for Economic Growth. “Technology and Entrepreneurship in Plateau State” will bring together members of the Plateau diaspora, distinguished guests, and community leaders to discuss pressing issues and inspire new leaders. The event, held from Friday, September 27, 2024 to Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Duluth, Georgia, also included an awards night.

He stressed that the conference provided a platform for insightful discussions on innovation, technology and entrepreneurship, which are key drivers of economic development in Plateau State.

According to Uyep, the main highlight of the conference was the election of the new leadership of the American Plateau State Association.
Through a transparent and democratic process, Dr. Bass Shepkong was elected President of PSA-USA, Mrs. Gertrude Hlongwan was appointed Vice-President, Barrister Uiep was appointed General Secretary, and Mrs. Asabe Spencer-Mya was appointed Treasurer. and said Mrs. Francisca Keen has been appointed Health Secretary of PSA-USA. for the next two years.

He said the conference culminated in the much-awaited awards night, where community members and prominent leaders were recognized for their outstanding contributions.
He said the honorees included mom Cecilia Sheni, who was presented with the PSA-USA Lifetime Achievement Award. Retji Dakum, PSA-USA Young Entrepreneur of the Year. and the Honorable Daniel Asama Ago received the PSA-USA Community Service Award.
