David Omereji, the chairmanship candidate of the Action Peoples Party, APP, which is contesting the local government council elections in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, said the elections were successful without police operatives.
Omereji also said that no one can rig the ongoing polls, adding that the people are determined to ensure peace and sanity.
It would be recalled that the police force in the state had announced that it would not participate in the elections following the order of the Federal High Court, Abuja, presided over by Justice Peter Riff.
Speaking after the vote at his unit in Ward 11 of Egbeda Community, Emohua Local Government, Omereji said the era of electoral fraud in the state was over.
He said the process was seamless, free, fair and peaceful, adding that the elections were successful without police.
“The election was peaceful and everyone voted without fear or intimidation. This was a peaceful and well-coordinated election in the state,” Omerezi said.
“RSIEC conducted a seamless election and we commend it. The election was held peacefully without police. People have become sensitive to ensuring peace.
“No one will rig this election. The results will be as the people voted. They have done a good job for the country.”
