The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike over his recent outbursts regarding the just concluded local government elections in the state.
According to a Naija News report, Mr. Wike in an interview on Channels Television accused Mr. Hubala of being the architect of the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.
The former governor expressed anger at Tomihara’s move to hold Saturday elections despite the court ruling, stressing that a situation in which court rulings are ignored will lead to anarchy.
However, the PDP Publicity Secretary in Rivers State, Sidney Gbala, in an interview with DAILY POST, expressed regret that those who used to agitate for the election are now against it.
Sidney said Governor Nunohara did nothing wrong in conducting the election and that those dissatisfied with the results should seek redress in court.
“We recognize that no court ruling can stop the electoral process. What we do know is that if you are not satisfied with the election, you can go to court after the election has been held,” he said. That’s why they should go to court.
“Let me come back to Nigerians. The holding of local government elections was one of the items in President Bola Tinubu’s presidential peace declaration in 2023. They (Wike and his supporters) I hope the elections will be held.”
“At one point, they even instructed Congress that Mr. Hubala should be impeached if he refused to hold elections. It’s amazing how much they are doing.
“This is where the conversation should start, not whether there is a court ruling or not.
“In fact, the parliament went so far as to extend the terms of successive LG chairmen, which was the first time in the history of Nigerian democracy. Now, the governor has said he is ready for elections, but the same Now the other side is saying that the election should not be held.
“Where did Governor Nunohara go wrong?” The Supreme Court ruled against the establishment of an interim committee, and each state should elect an LG chairperson, with a 90-day deadline to The state said it would not receive an allocation.
“Governor Tomihara is only obedient to the judgment of the Supreme Court. People who try to cut the process are not good for the people of Rivers.
Mr. Hubala is a hero and will always be our hero for standing resolutely to ensure the consolidation of democracy in Rivers State.
“Innocent people were killed in cold blood with the aim of sabotaging the electoral process. The truth is that they were delayed because the Rivers People decided to continue collaborating with Hubara.”
