Tanko Yunusa, national coordinator of the obedience movement, said that Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi is currently approaching Nigerians in the 2023 election.
Naija news reports that Yunusa knew this, in response to comments from LP national chairman Julius Abre, the Southeastern Party, as its party achieves the president’s ambition to rule Nigeria. It reports that it supports the
Abure spoke on Sunday at a rally hosted by Southeast LP members ahead of the Abuja Regional Council election scheduled for next year.
The national chairman of LP said the Southeast needs to be reorganized with other regions to achieve its ambitions of dominating Nigeria.
In an interview with The Daily Post, Yunusa said ahead of the 2027 election, it’s only time to know if Peter Obi will form an alliance outside the Labour Party.
He said the former governor of Anambra state is keen on good governance and contributes to various regions as he approaches the masses.
He states: That’s what’s on the table for him now. ”
“Only time can tell when we move about the possibility of an alliance outside the Labour Party. His goal at this point is to get closer to people and make his contributions on health issues that are sad. That’s what he’s happy to join them, and he talks about the issues of anxiety that it affects everyone.
“At the same time, he will talk about issues of the country that have a positive impact on the people of Nigeria.”
Also, in response, founding members of Fong Osita Okechukwu, founding member of All Progressives Congress APC and former director of Nigeria of Voice, described Abure’s comments as a welcome development.
Okechukwu said that parties are free to create policies that help them win votes and that zoning was a mistake made by the People’s Democrats (PDP) in 2023.
He states: “Their main goal is to get votes because parties need to decide on strategies on how to win elections, so they don’t think a particular party is wrong.
“If that’s their design, it’s a welcome development. In my own party, APC, we say we want the President to return to his second tenure.
“So for LP, I’m not in a position to say their comments are wrong. With their own wisdom, they pursue the same market as us.
“You’re in politics, whatever your own decisions that attract federal votes, it’s going to be good.
“It was the same mistake that the PDP made in 2023. If they had done what Labour said, the PDP would probably compete effectively, but they did so in their calculations. It would have been wrong, it was the false bridge of the Zoning Treaty.
“I support a party that says that their tenure should be completed before the South runs north.
“In my exact submission, every party needs to design policies that will help them win votes.
“Secondly, I have harmony, peace and fairness in favour of parties following the rotating treaty that will give the Southeast four more years before going north again.”
