In most polling stations visited by the leadership, voting had not begun as of 10 a.m. due to delays in the delivery of election materials, and turnout was very low.
However, some polling stations observed an increase in turnout by midday.
Elections were held peacefully in all 27 local governments in the state.
In Jahun local government area, elections began very early in some polling units, with some residents claiming to have cast their votes as early as 9am.
Jigawa State Governor Malam Umaru Namadi commended voters for their turnout and peaceful conduct of campaigning and campaigning.
The governor stated this shortly after voting at Imam Hassan polling station in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area.
Governor Namadi said the peaceful conduct of the exercise clearly demonstrated the confidence the people of the state have in democracy and the State Independent Electoral Commission.
Speaking to reporters, former Dutse Local Government Chairman Abdulaziz Dankofa said that as of 9:30 a.m., election materials had not been delivered to any polling stations in the local government’s Madobi and Khudai wards. expressed dissatisfaction.
Mr. Speaker of the State House, the Rt. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, who voted around 10am in Dangyatin, Miga Local Government, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the preparations of the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISEC).
The state’s Local Government Secretary Hon Ahmed Maikdi said the elections were peaceful and satisfactory.
“Given the peaceful conduct of the exercise and the fielding of candidates by our party and other political parties, we are confident that our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), will win all 27 local council seats at the end of the exercise. “The state government and its legislators,” he said.
