The Public Service Human Resource Development Center (PSSDC) is a civil service training institute established by the Lagos State Government in 1994 and has trained over 70,000 civil servants in career development and capacity building.
Speaking at the centre, which marked its 30th anniversary on Friday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the institute had survived because of tough decisions taken by successive administrations in the state.
Mr Sanwo-Olu recalled how successive governments had resisted pressure to repurpose the land on which the center is located for housing development.
The governor noted that the institute had weathered politics, intrigue and turmoil in the course of its operations, noting that its persistence in its guiding vision and the professionalism imparted to its staff to enhance service delivery contributed to its persistence. He emphasized that this is an important factor in the possibility.
“I stand here with great pride in the legacy that the Civil Service Human Resource Development Center has built,” he said. “The Institute projects a vision and a future that many were unaware of in its formative years. After 30 years of strong standing, the Center has become a symbol of professionalism and excellent public service that other locals can learn from.
“Our Institute has weathered politics, intrigue, and turmoil because of its tenacity in its guiding vision and the professionalism it has inspired in its staff to develop their capabilities and expand their service offerings. has sustained this institution and grown its goals to a point of no return. The center is internationally proud and has not succumbed to the “pressure of Magodo” to reuse its land. I’m happy. I believe that the future of the Center is bright and that it will grow into a global league of best training institutions. ”
Sanwo-Olu urged the institute’s management not to rest on its laurels over the past three decades, saying the center would evaluate and rediscover its achievements to maintain its relevance in the public service of the state. pointed out that it was necessary.
PSSDC Executive Director Adekunmilola Adio-Moses said the center’s mission is on track, citing milestones achieved over the years.
He said PSSDC had developed an organizational transformation plan, implemented organizational changes and adopted a more focused approach to promote a professional attitude towards service delivery.
