Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has given reasons for his move to remove Uche Secondus as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Elder statesman Secondus chaired the PDP National Working Committee in 2017 but was suspended by the party in 2021.
Addressing his supporters and members of the PDP party in Port Harcourt on Saturday, the former Rivers State governor said he ousted Secondus because he wanted Tere Ikuru to run for governorship as the national chairman.
Wike further stated that he did not regret sacking Secondus.
According to him, “Why did we kick Secondus out? We kicked him out because he wanted to bring his cousin Tere Ikuru. Get out, get out, who are you? mosquito?
“We kicked him out. I don’t regret it. That’s true. We kicked him out. Some leaders said, ‘How can a district chairperson dismiss a national chairperson?’ I heard him say, “Can you do it?”
“No district chief has ever dismissed a national chairman. What the district did was suspend him from the party. Can you retain your position even if you are suspended from the party? People They don’t even understand the facts.”
